We also have a focus on performance sport for those student athletes wishing to compete at a high level. We currently offer the following support for elite athletes during their education with us.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS)

BNU is one of only 33 sites, across the UK, accredited to deliver funded support for nominated TASS ( athletes. This support is offered through our Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre, which comprises of our Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) and our Sports and Wellbeing Clinic.

BNU Performance Sport Academy

While some athletes will be nominated for TASS support not everyone qualifies. We are committed to helping as many student athletes as possible so provide our own inhouse programme running alongside TASS. For details of what we provide and how to apply visit Performance Sport Academy.

National Swim England Performance Centre

We are proud to have been selected by  as one of only five universities in the country to offer a national swimming Performance Centre. Our partnership with  is located close to the University, at the , and will give you access to a leading Performance Programme, providing the right training environment, coaching and support to train for national and international success.

Reading Rockets

The University enjoys a strong partnership with the club offering students opportunities to compete, study, and gain work-related experience in areas such as coaching and sports therapy.
