Led by our supportive teaching staff, this course will help enhance your skills and knowledge to support individuals who have frailty issues.

Why study this subject?
This course is designed for healthcare professionals working in a variety of roles across the NHS and private health and social care sectors supporting individuals with issues relating to frailty.
What will I study?
On this course, you'll develop an understanding of the appropriate assessment and management strategies for the clinical care of a person with frailty. Current and relevant government and clinical guidelines will also be explored.
You'll gain insight into the experiences of the frail older person and have the chance to reflect on prevention, assessment and to build strategies for frailty. You'll also explore issues relating to the management and development of healthcare services to enhance support for the person with frailty.
On successful completion of the module, you should be able to identify the key issues of frailty and its potential impact on patients/service users as well as critically explore and examine the variety of factors that influence support for the person with frailty whilst considering potential interventions to aid in their care.
You can be working at either degree or master’s level and gain credit towards a range of awards.
You're expected to be working in a role where you have regular contact with individuals who have frailty issues.
How will I be taught and assessed?
This module uses a mix of different teaching styles including lectures, seminars and group discussion. You'll also have access to our award-winning simulation experiences to support your learning.
Successful completion of the course is dependent on you passing a written assignment on a relevant topic at Level 6 or Level 7.
Assessment will be a reflective exploration of practice relating to the specific issues of frailty and its potential impact on patients or service users.
You'll be required to attend the University for eight face-to-face teaching days during the course term.
At BNU, we recognise roles in this field are hands-on – that’s why you’ll take part in simulated learning experiences using our specialised facilities dedicated to nursing at our Uxbridge campus.

Following the Government’s announcement of 4 November 2024, we will be increasing our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK students to £9,535 per year from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Tuition fees for Home undergraduate students (including with foundation year) may increase in subsequent years for both new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the Government.  
Tuition fees for both new and continuing international students may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year.  
Tuition fees for postgraduate courses and CPD may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year. This increase will apply to both new and continuing students.
