What facilities can I use?
You can gain access to our High Wycombe, Aylesbury and Uxbridge campus as a student of our university. You will also gain use of our library, computer rooms, café, union and other spaces for you to take advantage of whenever you require for the duration of your study.
These facilities are equipped with public use IT facilities for your use day and night. You can also use this facility to access the AppsAnywhere service which means you can access the necessary software such as Word and PowerPoint from home. In addition, laptops are available for lend.
All facilities and learning resources are designed to be accessible, and support services are available to all students for finance, funding, learning and welfare concerns.

Highly regarded by students and practice partners for our teaching in this area, BNU has a strong reputation for its BSc and MSc programmes in Social Work, Apprenticeship and PGDip in Social Work, AYSE for newly qualified Social Workers and CPASS for professionals interested in research and policy roles in Safeguarding. This course can also lead to entry to a further 3 year degree in Nursing, and other health and science based professions.

How will I be taught and assessed?
Your course consists of a combination of structured learning and teaching activities and independent learning.
This is an attendance-based programme, although you will be expected to draw on work-related experience in either a workplace or vocational employment setting. You will be taught for a minimum of six hours per week and sessions will normally take the form of:
- lecturers
- seminars
- workshops
- personal and small-group tutorials.
You will be given additional guided learning tasks to undertake between scheduled activities, including reflection, preparation for seminar activities and wider reading. You will be allocated a personal tutor who will support you with personal development throughout the programme.
Your overall workload will include your learning and teaching activities and independent learning with total study time of around 10 hours being worth one credit. All learning is assessed through the completion of coursework which will either be in the form of essays, presentations, portfolio’s or reports. The programme does not include exams.
You will be given opportunities to test your understanding of the subject informally before you complete the formal assessments that count towards your final mark. This may take the form of practice or ‘formative’ assessments for which you will receive feedback from your tutor.
Formative assessments are developmental and any marks you receive do not count towards your overall module mark. There is at least one formal or ‘summative’ assessment towards the end of each module. The marks from summative assessments do count towards your overall module mark.
What are the course entry requirements?
Applicants must have 120 credits at level 5, and a minimum of 6 hours' work experience in a field related to health and social care (in either a paid or voluntary capacity).
Previous study, professional and / or vocational experiences may be recognised as the equivalent learning experience and permit exemption from studying certain modules. Please refer to our Credit Accumulation webpages for further guidance.

Following the Government’s announcement of 4 November 2024, we will be increasing our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK students to £9,535 per year from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Our part-time fees for UK undergraduate students will increase to £7,145 per annum. Please visit , on the Government’s website, for more information about the changes.
Tuition fees for Home undergraduate students (including with foundation year) may increase in subsequent years for both new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the Government.  
Tuition fees for both new and continuing international students may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year.  
Tuition fees for postgraduate courses and CPD may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year. This increase will apply to both new and continuing students.
