Studying an International Commercial Law Masters at BNU's Business and Law School provides the chance to develop your problem-solving skills that enable you to exercise sound judgement in complex, uncertain and new environments.
Our LLM International Commercial Law degree has been specially designed to provide you with the opportunity to understand domestic commercial transactions with international law elements, as well as allowing you to explore contemporary legal issues and debates, analyse current developments related to the advancement of society through the legal lens.
On our LLM International Commercial Law course you will have the opportunity to choose optional modules that include intellectual property law and technology, electronic commerce and digital trade, international law, international commercial dispute resolution, competition law, and international trade.
The Law School has a dedicated moot room, where you can practice your advocacy skills in a realistic courtroom setting. We also have wigs and gowns to add to the experience. Additionally, the Students' Union has a Mooting Society, where you can get involved in mock trials and may even be able to compete in national competitions.
Our BNU Business and Law School lecturers have a wide variety of specialisms. Course Leader Sukhninder Panesa is a leading expert in the field of Property, Trusts and Commercial law. Other expertise in the school include, International Law, European Union Law, Criminal Law, International Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution.

What will I study?
We are focused on providing you with the tools needed to progress your career to the next level through enhancing your professional development, academic potential and problem-solving skills by acquiring a critical understanding of the complex legal, economic, cultural and political issues informing English and international regulations.
You'll study core module on commercial law and contemporary legal issues, and analyse current developments related to the advancement of society through a legal lens. You'll examine the political and legal framework that large commercial interests and states use to negotiate their political and legal commitments and how these are enforced.
A key part of the courses is legal research on a topic of your choosing at an advanced level. In addition to this, you will be able to further tailor the course to your interests by choosing from a selection of optional modules. You could delve into intellectual property law, EU competition law, or policies around international trade. ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ the challenges of regulating electronic commercial activities, or dispute resolution processes.

How will I be taught and assessed?
At Buckinghamshire New University we like to foster an interactive and student-focused teaching style where we blend lectures, seminars, workshops, and individual and group oral presentations. You’ll be expected to undertake prior preparation, read widely and to engage with a variety of legal sources, including case law reports, statutes, academic and professional journals, and other legislative, government and institutional documents.

What are the course entry requirements?
- A first degree in Law (or a subject in a related discipline, such as Business, Accountancy and Finance, Economics, Politics, International Relations) at a minimum of 2:2, or an overseas qualification which is equivalent to a UK Honours degree, minimum 2:2 classification.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Law or in a cognate discipline, or other international equivalent
If you do not meet the entry requirements you may, if you have relevant professional experience, still be invited for interview, where you will be required to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and understanding for entry onto the course.
Previous study, professional and / or vocational experiences may be recognised as the equivalent learning experience and permit exemption from studying certain modules in accordance with our accreditation of prior learning (APL) process.

Following the Government’s announcement of 4 November 2024, we will be increasing our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK students to £9,535 per year from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Tuition fees for Home undergraduate students (including with foundation year) may increase in subsequent years for both new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the Government.  
Tuition fees for both new and continuing international students may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year.  
Tuition fees for postgraduate courses and CPD may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year. This increase will apply to both new and continuing students.
