My BNU Story: Lewis Pegg

My BNU Story: Lewis Pegg

We’re still full of joy and excitement after our recent graduation celebrations here at the Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) Business and Law School. So, to keep on celebrating we wanted to find out a little bit about what some of our wonderful class of 2023 have planned, now that they have graduated.

Here’s what BA (Hons) Business Management Alumni, Lewis Pegg had to say.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hello, my name is Lewis Pegg, and I am a graduate from BNU with a First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Business Management. I recently graduated in 2023 and gained two awards for “school prize for overall performance” and “best performance in a project or dissertation”, along with nominations for Valedictorian. I am currently working for a large American company known as in the supply chain and logistics sector. At first you may not know who General Mills are, but you would have definitely eaten some of their products, such as Haagen Dazs, Nature valley, Fibre One, Old El Paso and a lot of American cereal like Golden Charms and Cheerio’s to name a few! I am in control of the deliveries that come into the UK from Greece, Spain and Ireland and in control of the deliveries into Ireland too.

Why did you choose to study at Buckinghamshire New University?

At Buckinghamshire New University you are not just a student, you are not just a number, you are a friend, a colleague and much more. At BNU you really feel a sense of friendship from the first day. Along with these non-physical matters, BNU is a stunning University, whether that is looking over High Wycombe whilst writing a dissertation or locking yourself in a glass pod when wanting to quietly study away from peers. BNU’s campus is amazing and offers so many ways to study, with all access regarding technological equipment available to students which was a big attraction to me.

What did you love most about your time at Buckinghamshire New University?

One word, Lecturers. When you go to a large University like many of my friends up north or down south, they have sometimes never spoke to one of their lectures and they have no idea who one another are if they walked down the street. At Buckinghamshire New University my lecturers made all the difference, quick shout out to John Hathaway and Suzanne Doria. They truly were nothing short of inspirational but also educational. I had some hard times whilst studying but my lecturers would check on me every day making sure I was ok and if I needed any help regarding work. That feel of trust and friendship made me want to work harder to succeed which I can contently now say I did thanks to them. I can’t put into words how good they are, the reason I am here now is thanks to them.

Which skills gained at Buckinghamshire New University have you used most in your career so far?

The one skill I have used so far professionally is my confidence and ability to talk to other companies with ease. When at BNU we had a module which exposed us to an outside organisation, which we had close contact with without the safety net of a lecturer. This meant when I stepped into the professional world, I was so confident in speaking to my company’s clients or third-party logistic company’s. As seen from first-hand experience some other graduates struggled in this area. This is the one biggest skill I have used so far in my very short professional career.

Why would you recommend this course?

Why not? Having this degree under your name opens so many doors it is astonishing. Without this degree, I would not be where I am today, and I don’t want to think where I would be without it if I am honest. This degree has put me into a position not many people get to without such a qualification, so what’s stopping you from going further in the professional world?
