Staff Profile

Dr Renan De Oliveira
I joined Buckinghamshire New University in 2024, following the completion of my PhD at Griffith University (GU) in Australia. While at GU, I collaborated with academics from both the Aviation Department and the Griffith Institute for Tourism (GIFT).
My research combines statistical analysis with varied mathematical modelling techniques to address complex aviation and tourism challenges. In particular, my expertise lies in econometrics and operations research.
This specialized knowledge has enabled notable projects, including contributing to the "Building Better Regions Fund: Tourism Precinct Development" which expanded tourism offerings in Charleville, Australia, and serving as a data analyst for "Evaluating Marine Tourism in Timor-Leste," where I assessed economic opportunities and provided evidence-based recommendations for sustainable policy developments.
A significant achievement in my career was helping shape Queensland's regulatory approach to flight simulator realism requirements through my collaboration with Maritime Safety Queensland.
