Staff Profile

Asia Roye-Wright
I have been at Buckinghamshire New University since 2015, starting as an undergraduate student and later completing an MSc before becoming an Associate Lecturer and Module Lead for both Masters and Undergraduate modules. The modules I lead are strongly focused on forensic psychology and mental health.
I am also a Forensic Mental Health Practitioner at Together-UK for Mental Wellbeing, working within West London Magistrate Courts since May 2023. My role involves conducting holistic assessments, including Mental Health Assessments and Mental State Examinations in custody, to inform risk management and decision-making. I provide court reports to assist sentencers, liaise with services to support rehabilitation, and deliver training to court staff on the clinical and social care needs of adults with diverse vulnerabilities, including neurodiversity and mental health issues.
Prior to my current roles, I worked as an Executive Case Manager for the Parole Board of England and Wales, managing complex parole cases in and around London prisons and supporting panel members with decision-making. I also gained legal sector experience as a Legal Team Assistant at Howard Kennedy LLP.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Criminological Psychology and an MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology from Buckinghamshire New University, along with Graduate Membership with the British Psychological Society.
My areas of expertise include mental health in forensic settings, therapeutic and holistic interventions, risk management, and working with neurodiverse individuals. I am also a Neurodiversity Champion and a Sexual Offences Ambassador, with additional CPD training in self-harm, suicide, and gang awareness.
