Get Covid-19 jab & ‘one stop shop’ advice at BNU’s High Wycombe campus this week
The NHS Health on the Move vaccine van is coming to Buckinghamshire New University on Wednesday 18 December (10-12:30) and will be administering Covid-19 vaccines to those eligible without needing to book an appointment.
It features two clinic rooms for privacy and to maintain confidentiality, and will be stationed outside of Beacon, formerly known as Lata Lata. The vaccines are available to BNU staff, students and the local community.
The eligibility criteria for the Covid-19 vaccine includes:
- Anyone aged 65 years and over
- Pregnancy
- Medical conditions – including diabetes and immunosuppression
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- Anyone aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
- Frontline NHS and social care workers, and those working in care homes for older people

‘One stop shop’ advice
Wednesday is also the last High Wycombe Community Advice Hub of the year which will be held in Beacon between 9.30am and 12pm.
In October, the Hub became permanent following a successful pilot led by the university.
It adopts a ‘one stop shop’ model where those in the greatest need can walk in without booking an appointment and receive free advice from one or more advice-giving organisations present on the day on topics including benefits, bills, careers, employment, family, food, housing and money.
This new space is a high-profile statement of the University's commitment to civic work, offering a 'beacon' to local people by helping them to navigate issues or difficulties which chime with the areas where we're playing our part to make a difference.
