Buckinghamshire New University selected as practitioner partner in global UKCGE project
Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) has been selected to participate in the UK Council for Graduate Education鈥檚 (UKCGE) Next Generation Research SuperVision Project (RSVP), designed to transform the culture and practice of doctoral research supervision across the globe.
The initiative is the largest funded collaborative, cross-disciplinary and translational research project on doctoral education in the UK and will operate over four years.
Fiona McCormack, Associate Professor in Sports Enterprise and Head of Graduate School at BNU, supported by the University鈥檚 Head of Research Prof. Florin Ioras, prepared the successful expression of interest in collaboration with the University of Staffordshire and Griffith University in Australia.
The project will give BNU the opportunity to co-create, pilot, and evaluate a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for research supervisors.
Speaking on the project, Fiona said 鈥淚 am excited to lead the project at BNU, giving us the opportunity to strengthen research ties globally, joining over 50 research organisations and 10 industry partners to review, revise, and enhance doctoral supervision.鈥
Prof. Florin Ioras commented 鈥淎t BNU, we are committed to creating an engaging and diverse research culture, and one of the most important ways we will accomplish this goal is by helping all of our research supervisors to advance their careers.鈥
Professor Kevin Hetherington, Deputy Vice Chancellor at Staffordshire added 鈥淚 am delighted that Staffordshire will be part of this important national project which will support the development of our doctoral supervision[...] it also enables us to enhance our existing doctoral partnerships with Buckinghamshire New University and develop our relationship with Griffith University with whom we have shared research interests.鈥
