
BNU staff and students celebrated at UK Music MAP Awards
Staff and students from BNU’s School of Creative and Digital Industries were recognised at the 2024 Awards, held at Sound City, Liverpool, on Thursday 2 May.
The annual awards event celebrates the best talent within the , of which BNU is a member and academic partner.
Senior Lecturer Paul Fields beat out the competition to win MAP Tutor of the Year 2024, awarded to the most influential lecturer involved in the MAP network.
Two BNU students also made the list of recognition:
Alumnae of BA (Hons) Audio/Music Production at BNU, Phoebe Wilkinson, collected the ‘runner-up’ prize for Outstanding MAP Graduate 2024. The Outstanding MAP Graduate Award celebrates the most dynamic, innovative and ground-breaking students to come through a Music Academic Partnership (MAP) institute.
Peter Waterman, Senior Lecturer in Audio and Music Production, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be Phoebe’s lecturer over her three years here at BNU and she is now flying the flag for our Music Production courses. Phoebe is currently the only female technical manager at an AMG venue at the Oxford O2 Academy and has worked with countless production teams coming through the venue (Foals, Tom Odell, You Me at Six, Pete Doherty, and DYLAN).”
Current BA (Hons) Music Business student Emmanuel Alabi-Araoye also collected a ‘runner-up’ prize but this time for the OM3 award which celebrates the best of the students who have completed level 3 qualifications at MAP institutions.

Dr Oliver Morris, Director of Education and Skills at UK Music, said: “The MAP network gets stronger every year and it makes me very happy to help celebrate the amazing achievements of the nominees as well as the hard work and (often unsung) dedication of the tutors. Well done all!”
MAP is a ground-breaking collaboration between educational institutions and UK Music, and is designed to maximise the relationship between the industry and educational institutions in order to inform the next generation of industry professionals.
