Use professional facilities

In addition to our Sports and Wellbeing Clinic, we also have a Human Performance Lab, a facility designed to test and research the human body. It has been designed to enhance athletes performance through data analysis and can be used to develop the most effective strength and conditioning regime for different body types. Our Gateway Gym is where you can get personalised help and advice from our specialist trainers as well as use a range of fitness equipment, with great student membership rates.

What will I study?

On our (SST) accredited degree, we'll help you gain the skills and experience you need to become a successful sports therapist.

We’ll guide you through the entire process of sports therapy, including injury prevention, assessment, therapeutic treatments, and exercise rehabilitation, preparing you to return clients to fitness and performance safely and effectively.

You’ll cover areas such as:

human anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology
injury assessment, treatment techniques, and rehabilitation
therapeutic interventions and hands-on clinical skills
exercise science and recovery programming.

We’ll also help you develop the skills to work in private practice or as a freelance sports therapist, including business awareness and client communication.

The placements were a platform to apply my learning in real-life situations, whether that was with sporting professionals or on the public in clinics. The lecturers and practicals were highly informative and constantly challenging, which helped me develop as a therapist.

What are the course entry requirements?

A typical offer will require a UCAS tariff score of: 112 - 136 (Full-time) or 32 - 56 (Foundation Year)

UCAS points can be obtained through qualifications such as A levels, T levels, BTEC or an Access to Higher Education course in a relevant subject. Please list all your qualifications on the application form as you will be asked to provide copies when we receive your application.

Qualifications will also need to include a pass in one of the following subjects; Physical Education, Sports Studies or Science (Human Biology or similar).

You will also need GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above and a minimum of two full A-levels (or equivalent) is required. Please list all your qualifications on the application form as you will be asked to provide copies when we receive your application.

Every application is considered on an individual basis. If you do not have the necessary entry requirements, then please still apply and you may be invited by the course team to attend an online or face to face interview (which is compulsory) to discuss your application and to ascertain your suitability for the course including your individual motivation and interests and whether BNU is right for you.

You will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check as part of the application process.

All successful applicants will be invited to attend (attendance is optional) an Applicant Visit Afternoon where you will meet the course team and find out more information about the course and teaching.

Those with no previous study, work experience, or who do not meet the specified entry requirements, including demonstrating the necessary knowledge and understanding, are welcome to apply for the 3-year BSc (Hons) degree, however may be offered the four-year programme which includes a Foundation Year.

Research Matters

Discover how research drives the fundamentals of science degrees. You will explore the fascinating world of research and its different types, such as: Quantitative and qualitative research, Primary and secondary research, Experimental and observational research. You will also learn how to apply research methods in your studies. 

Human Science – Dissecting the details

Dive into the core principles and theories that form the foundation of education, sport, psychology, criminology, health and social sciences. This module will enable you to identify the principles of human science across different disciplines and apply them as you progress to your chosen pathway.

Human Communication

��Ӱ�� the theoretical underpinnings of communication. We equip you with the skills to navigate various communication scenarios. You will develop an understanding of effective communication techniques, the influence of context, and the nuances of verbal and non-verbal cues. You’ll be better able to present your ideas to others.

Exploring Intersections

Make the connections between multiple subjects within human and social science with this module. You will explore the theories at the intersection of human sciences. This will provide you with a platform to examine how different theories shape our understanding and contribute to the complexities of shared human experience.

Following the Government’s announcement of 4 November 2024, we will be increasing our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK students to £9,535 per year from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Our part-time fees for UK undergraduate students will increase to £7,145 per annum. Please visit , on the Government’s website, for more information about the changes.

Tuition fees for Home undergraduate students (including with foundation year) may increase in subsequent years for both new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the Government.  

Tuition fees for both new and continuing international students may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year.  

Tuition fees for postgraduate courses and CPD may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year. This increase will apply to both new and continuing students.

We’re here to support you into a successful and fulfilling career. After graduating, you’ll be qualified to work in a range of roles, including:

exercise rehabilitation specialist
injury prevention adviser
physiotherapy assistant

You’ll also have gained the training you need to work in professional sport therapy context within football and rugby.
Alternatively, you may choose to further your studies at postgraduate level in areas, such as:
