A look back on 2022 at BNU
2022 is done and those 365 days have gone by so quickly for me! I’ve achieved so much on my course and within my society, as well as making some major decisions for my future. So here are my special BNU moments from 2022…
Through the Lens Exhibition

In May 2022, myself and other 3rd year students from the BA (Hons) Photography course put on our own exhibition in High Wycombe, Eden Centre.
As part of the Arts Practices and Methods module, we chose from set themes and developed and presented ideas in whichever form we believe would best convey the message.

As a whole I was proud of what we all accomplished at the end of our 2nd year and I’m very excited to see what we will create for our final summer show in June 2023. You can check out our blog about the exhibition
Becoming a Student Ambassador
Last summer, I became a Student Ambassador, this meant I could do a lot more within my job description. Recently I worked my very first Open Day, which was brilliant. Though scary for potential students, this time around I was probably the most nervous in the group! Thankfully I loved every minute of it, especially helping people learn about all that’s on offer at BNU. I’m very proud of myself, and I’m hoping to do a few more before I graduate. While I continue to write blogs, record videos and even take part in student led podcasts - I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Anime and Cosplay Society
I was approached to join the Anime and Cosplay Society committee during my second year at BNU. A year later, things have changed, and my role has evolved as well. I currently have the position of social secretary. With the aid of our treasurer, I organise events and outings.

Recently, our society travelled to London for Christmas. It required some organising, but when the day finally arrived, it was an incredible experience for all the members who were able to join us. I’m really excited to plan our next trip, which will be May London Comic con.

Masters
Knowing what you want to do after university is a scary thought, whilst some may want to jump straight into the industry and continue to learn as they work – others want to hone in on their specialism within the education environment.
I have made the decision to continue my education by pursuing a master's degree. While I do enjoy taking photographs, learning about theory, history and curating has led me to the conclusion that I want to work as a photography curator, so I believe that applying for a master's degree is the next logical step for my growth.

Just a few weeks ago I was given a conditional offer from the University of Kent and also received a very endearing email from the Head of the History of Art Department at York University. I hope to end my third year at BNU on a high note and I couldn’t of gotten to where I am now without the help and support of Buckinghamshire New University’s Academic staff.
