Staff Profile

Rajeshkumar Madarkar
Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2024, I worked as a Research Associate in Precision/Ultra Precision Manufacturing at the Centre for Precision Manufacturing (CPM) at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, from 2022 to 2024. Previously, I served as an Associate Software Engineer at IBM India from 2007 to 2008 and as an Assistant Professor of Engineering and Technology in India from 2008 to 2014 and again from 2020 to 2022. Additionally, I was a National Council Member of the prestigious Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) from 2012 to 2020.
I earned my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2020 and a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2007. My research interests include machining/grinding of superalloys, hybrid machining, ultrasonic vibration-assisted grinding, ultrasonic vibration-assisted minimum quantity lubrication, smart manufacturing, digital twin-driven manufacturing, micromachining, non-traditional manufacturing, and dynamic life cycle analysis. My research has focused on designing and developing hybrid manufacturing techniques to enhance the manufacturability of engineering components and advancing rapid prototyping capabilities for precise products. This work is noteworthy as it addresses the ever-evolving and complex manufacturing requirements of the industry, setting new standards and driving innovation in the manufacturing sector.
My specialist knowledge and skills have led me to collaborate with industries such as IBM and Swift Infotech, as well as with prestigious academic institutions and research centers. I served as a work package leader on the EPSRC project ‘A Multiscale Digital Twin-Driven Smart Manufacturing System for High Value-Added Products’ and have delivered invited talks on manufacturing at various training programs, workshops and conferences.
Highlights of my career to date include notable accomplishments such as securing an All India Rank of 22 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), receiving the prestigious MHRD scholarship for my M.Tech and Ph.D. studies, publishing over 20 papers in renowned journals and conferences, and serving as a session chair at an international conference.
