Staff Profile

Dr Marianthi Alexandropoulou
Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2015, I enjoyed a diverse career in nursing that spanned clinical practice, education, and research in both the UK and Greece.
I hold a BSc in Nursing, an MSc in Community Nursing, and a PhD focusing on School Nursing and Health Promotion. Additionally, I am a certified teacher with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold Postgraduate Certificates in Education and in Supporting Learning and Assessment in Practice.
My research interests centre on community and public health nursing, particularly in health promotion. During my doctoral studies, I developed, implemented, and evaluated a first aid education programme for staff at special education schools. This initiative led to the creation of the School Staff First Aid Knowledge Test (SSFAKT), a tool that has since been used in other studies worldwide. My post-doctoral research investigated public perceptions of home healthcare, resulting in the development of the Home Healthcare Perception Questionnaire (H.HC.P.Q), which has also been applied in Greek studies.
Since then, I have contributed to numerous studies and remained active in scientific conferences and journals, both as an author and a reviewer. My contributions have been recognised with several scholarships and grants for research excellence and innovation.
I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Hellenic Regulatory Body of Nurses (ENE). I am also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) and of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and a member of the Hellenic Nurses Association (ESNE), the Onassis Scholars Association, and the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA).
