Biography

I joined Buckinghamshire New University as an Associate Lecturer in 2022, teaching students in Criminology, Forensic Studies and Forensic Psychology. I am passionate about the rehabilitation of people in and released from prison, and more generally, prison reform. I have published a self-help book for people in prison called, ‘Freedom is in the Mind’ which is available in many prison libraries, Broadmoor Hospital and HMP Grendon. I am Postdoctoral Researcher at Durham University, and researching the experience of hope in relation to desistance for former prisoners who are now living successfully in the community. I have written articles about the power of hope theory for The Probation Institute and the Prison Service Journal and provide advice and consultancy for organisations engaged in the rehabilitation of people in the criminal justice system.

I am a member of The British Psychological Society, Academic Member of the Criminal Justice Alliance, and Associate Member of the Chartered Management Institute.
