Why study BA (Hons) Hotel and Events Management at BNU?

Studying a hotel and events management course will help you to gain an in-depth, research-informed, theoretical, and practical understanding of core theories, approaches, and strategies, within the industry.

This course has been developed to mirror today’s Hotel and Hospitality industry and continues to work closely with its own Industry Advisory Board to ensure the curriculum and teaching is relevant. Working with professionals allows us to ensure the course will help you to develop the skills and knowledge the industry is looking for. You’ll engage in real-world, practical activities that will prepare you for a successful entrepreneurial career.

On this hotel and events course, we work with several hotel, events and hospitality partners for mentoring, live briefs, placements, internships and visits. These include, but are not limited to; , , , , , , , , , and .

You will also benefit from the industry mentorship programme offered by our partner organisations. In each year you’ll be allocated an industry mentor from one of our great partners, here you’ll have the opportunity to learn directly from successful hotel, event and hospitality leaders.

Undertaking work experience is an integral part of the BA (Hons) Hotel and Events Management degree. This unique approach to studying at BNU, is underlined by our core belief that practical, hands-on experience must always complement a theoretical, research-informed teaching strategy. That is why, as part of your core curriculum, in year two, you’ll put your skills and knowledge into practice through an integrated internship. 

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in co-curricular, by taking part in community projects organised in collaboration with local hotels, as well as attending guest talks, industry visits and a wide range of networking events, conferences and seminars organised by our school and our industry partners.

Our portfolio of hotel and hospitality courses are accredited and linked to some huge industry bodies. What will I study?

Our BA (Hons) Hotel and Events Management course is your gateway to an exciting and multifaceted career where creativity, strategic thinking, and exceptional guest experiences intersect.

Blending theoretical knowledge, industry expertise, hands-on experiences, and ethical consciousness, this course enables you to shape the future of hospitality and events, making a positive impact on both the industry and society at large.

You’ll study the core business concepts and strategies associated with hotel and event management, including modules related to the industry landscape, digital marketing and communications, guest experience, planning and operations. You’ll also have the opportunity to delve into event design and even the planning and running of your own events.

As well as that, you’ll build up on core concepts, studying more specialised subjects focused on technology and innovation, and food and beverage management. You’ll also investigate research methods in hotel and events management studies.

During your time studying with us you’ll explore critical, contemporary issues; ethics and sustainability; financial management and leadership – including a live industry research project that will give you the opportunity to explore into a specialised area of your interest. During this project you’ll be matched with an industry partner who you’ll work on the project with.

How will I be taught and assessed? 

Our teaching and learning methods include lectures and seminars, case studies, hands-on projects, guest speakers, field trips, practical work experience and placement opportunities with our industry partners.

Placements are an integral part of your course. Your placement will be practice-led, allowing you to gain experience in all departments, including front and back of house operations. You’ll gain experience in the different areas of operations, including restaurant, events, and conference departments.

In order for you to make the most of your placement experience, your shifts may include occasional late finishes, or weekend work – as this is an integral part of how hospitality and event businesses are being operated. 

Within our school, we are proud to integrate industry mentoring into the BA (Hons) Hotel and Events Management course, providing you with a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. What are the course entry requirements?

A typical offer will require a UCAS tariff score of: 88 - 112

UCAS points can be obtained through qualifications such as A levels, T levels, BTEC or an Access to Higher Education course in a relevant subject. Please list all your qualifications on the application form as you will be asked to provide copies when we receive your application.

We also accept applicants who have achieved the Access to HE Diploma (QAA approved) with 60 credits overall and 45 credits at Level 3.

As an inclusive University, we recognise that applicants who have been out of education for some time may not have the formal qualifications usually required for entry to this course. We welcome applications from those who can demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment to study and have the relevant work experience that equips them to succeed on the course. We will assess this from the information provided in your application – in particular your personal statement - to help us decide on your eligibility for the course.

International students for whom English is a second language require an IELTS score of 6.0, with no area below 5.5 (or a recognised equivalent).

What are the tuition fees

  • Home, Academic Year 2025 - 2026: £9,535 per year *
International
  • Overseas/International, Academic Year 2025 - 2026: £15,150 per year *

Following the Government’s announcement of 4 November 2024, we will be increasing our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK students to £9,535 per year from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Our part-time fees for UK undergraduate students will increase to £7,145 per annum. Please visit , on the Government’s website, for more information about the changes. 

Tuition fees for Home undergraduate students (including with foundation year) may increase in subsequent years for both new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the Government.   

Tuition fees for both new and continuing international students may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year.   

Tuition fees for postgraduate courses and CPD may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year. This increase will apply to both new and continuing students.

The following factors will be considered by the University when we set the annual fees: measures of inflation such as the retail price indices; projected increases in University costs; and any changes in the level of funding for teaching received from the Government.
